Attorney Reed Speir

Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Reed Speir has lived in the Tacoma area since 1994. Reed earned his Associate’s Degree from Tacoma Community College, his Bachelor’s Degree in history from the University of Puget Sound, and his law degree from Seattle University School of Law. In addition to running his own solo practice for 15 years contracting with state and local government agencies, Reed has specialized in both civil and criminal legal research and writing, appellate representation and assisting with case management for high volume legal practices. Reed has taught numerous classes on appellate and trial practice to State and County agencies and legal organizations.

Reed has authored and argued over 70 appeals from the Superior Court in all divisions of the Washington Court of Appeals and Washington Supreme Court; he has also authored and argued over 80 appeals from courts of limited jurisdiction in King, Pierce, and Thurston counties. These appeals have involved issues of civil, criminal, and administrative law. In addition to being admitted to practice in Washington courts, he is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court of the Western District of Washington as well as the Suquamish Tribal Court.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Reed was a stagehand in the Seattle area working with international touring acts as well as local theater and opera groups. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, home improvement projects, and working on classic cars.
